GTN: Six years and looking ahead despite Covid challenges

Global Travel Network (GTN) is marking six years of operation today and reports that despite the tough conditions now the company is looking towards strong and bouyant business in the near future.

Rob Beecher and Allen Bell decided to start a travel group in 2015 that would be dedicated to looking after independent travel agents in New Zealand. With that objective in mind, GTN was set up in partnership with House of Travel.

Because of the relationships the directors had previously built over their  years in travel, many independent agents took a leap of faith and joined GTN.

‘Six years down the track, these agents are still with GTN and many more have come across, including Tandem Travel. We are proudly 100% Kiwi owned and operated and this has resonated with our members,’ says Beecher.

Brent Thomas, chief operating officer of House of Travel Holdings says the business partnership has been extremely satisfying and successful.  ‘To see the growth of GTN to its position of strength in the independent market space in such a relatively short time is testament to what Rob and Allen bring to the table for all their agents with their core values being honesty, integrity and transparency.  We continue to see GTN and its business model as an integral part of the future.’

Beecher says the loyalty and support of both agents and and suppliers has put GTN in a position not only to survive through Covid but be in a position to prosper when borders eventually open.

‘We do see a bright future despite the dark times for the travel industry over the past 19 months or so.’
