House of Travel has opened its new Hamilton East store at 707 Grey Street. Jayne Alldred, House of Travel Group retail director, says since the doors opened the team has been busy settling into the premises and connecting with locals.

Hamilton Airport recorded a 39% rise in passenger numbers in the six months to December 2025 with around 55,000 of those travellers flying the new direct international routes to Sydney and the Gold Coast. The growth has increased demand for House of Travel’s services in the region and Alldred anticipates the new store will quickly become a go to travel hub for the Hamilton East community.

‘Travellers in the Waikato love their travel but a pain point was the cost and hassle of travelling to Auckland,’ she adds. ‘With more direct flights outbound via Hamilton Airport, it’s been brilliant watching the demand build in the local market.’

House of Travel, the two-time winner of the Best Places To Work (Large Category), is still on the hunt for an experienced travel professional to lead the new store.

‘This is an opportunity for someone to take their career to the next level, leading and motivating a team of consultants,’ says Alldred. ‘If someone has interest, I’m keen to hear from them.’
