Ratua Resort to reopen

Brett and Leah Fasher, owners of Ratua Private Island Resort in Vanuatu, are gearing up for a return after weathering a series of challenges.

In April 2020 Cyclone Harold wreaked havoc on the island, causing extensive damage to the resort’s infrastructure. This, compounded by the impact of a border lockdown due to Covid-19 and a subsequent fire that ravaged the kitchen area, left the Fashers facing an uncertain future.

Despite facing logistical hurdles and resource shortages, the Fashers mobilised a team of builders and craftsmen to restore Ratua to its former glory.

New Zealand architect Neville Price was enlisted to design a new Yacht Club building that pays homage to the resort’s Javanese and Vanuatu heritage.

The relaunch of Ratua Private Island Resort brings an array of enhancements, including a new 18m long fast barge, and a total of 18 eclectic villas and luxury accommodation. www.ratua.com
