Fiji's tourism sector leads vax

The tourism industry in Fiji continues to show its resilience and determination to get back to business by leading the way with getting vaccinated.

Tourism Fiji’s head office team in Nadi, Fiji, received their second dose at Nadi Airport last week. Other industry partners are also now in the position of having their staff fully vaccinated in support of the Fiji Government drive to get every eligible Fijian vaccinated as soon as possible.

Fiji is receiving enough AstraZeneca vaccines for its entire eligible population and is on the way to vaccinating the target of 80% of the population with their first dose by August 2021. As of Wednesday, Fiji had administered first doses to 293,560 individuals which represents 50% of its target adults in Fiji. 46,208 Fijians or 7.9% are now fully vaccinated.

‘While Fiji is facing an outbreak of Covid-19, we are confident that our robust vaccination programme will help keep Fiji safe,’ acting Tourism Fiji CEO, Robert Thompson commented.

Fiji continues its vaccination programme with the help of vaccinations provided by Australia and New Zealand.
