General manager Lauren Mossop says that means nine units, including the two grand villas, will have their own private pools all screened with gardens for a sense of solitude.
Mossop, who attended the Fiji roadshow events with Tourism Fiji in Christchurch and Auckland last week, says the latest development is part of the adults-only Yasawa resort’s ongoing moves to meet demand and guest preference.
‘We have had amazing support from the industry over the past three years,’ she adds. ‘We opened with 17 villas in 2023 and we’ve already extended to 25, which will be our capacity. That growth has come purely through demand.’
Mossop has seen an extension in stays, with the first 18 months of the Waya’s life seeing an average of four and a half nights – now pushed out to about six nights.
‘Our demographic includes honeymooners, adventure travellers and empty nester retirees. An agent who visited recently described us as unpretentious luxury and I think that is accurate.’
