Strong early bookings for new Fiji hotels

All three new properties joining the Sofitel Fiji Resort & Spa in the The Yavu Collection are on sale now with the first, The Sebel at Wailoaloa due to welcome guests from 11 September.

The lifestyle brand Tribe opens on 9 December and the five star Vatu Talei in March 2027.

Director of sales and marketing Michael Bell says while the hotels are bringing on considerable inventory between them, they (and other new openings in Fiji) are only matching demand that already exists.

‘At Sofitel we have not run under 90% since January and forward bookings are strong. Even with the additional hotels in market we are not seeing any slow-down.’

Bell says the Sebel’s opening will add 78 one, two and three bedroom apartments to the destination. ‘Fiji really needs (more) longer stay serviced apartment style accommodation.’

The hotel is opening with a special rate of F$299 for a one bedroom apartment until March 2027.

The three-and-a-half star Tribe will bring a new affordable option to Denarau and Bell says while the ‘fun, trendy’ Accor brand may not be established in Fiji yet it is reasonably well known in key markets – central Auckland, for example, has a Tribe of its own.

‘We’re getting a big pick-up for all of the new properties but at the moment the strongest performer is Vatu Talei. It shows us there is still a lot of demand at the high-end of the market and that means there are big opportunities for travel agents – particularly for pre and post island stays.’
