Accessibility, product range impresses agents

Vanuatu Tourism Office (VTO) and Solomon Airlines recently hosted eight New Zealand travel agents on a famil to Port Vila giving participants a comprehensive insight into the destination.

The trip showcased Vanuatu’s accommodation, natural attractions and cultural experiences.

For the majority of participants, it was their first visit to the destination, and the group was impressed by Port Vila’s easy accessibility from New Zealand via Solomon Airlines, a highlight frequently mentioned by the agents as a major selling point for their clients.

The group stayed at three of the destination’s full service resorts – Warwick Le Lagon Resort, Holiday Inn Resort Port Vila and Ramada Resort Port Vila.

They conducted site inspections at a further nine properties, gaining product knowledge across the spectrum of Port Vila’s accommodation offering.

(The group was scheduled to stay at the Iririki Island Resort; however, the property was temporarily closed due to a fire in the power plant. VTO confirms that Iririki is now fully operational and welcoming guests.)

The famil showcased the diversity of experiences available in and around Efate such as Rarru Falls, Blue Lagoon, Pepeyo Cultural Village and 83 Island Distillery.

Lunches were hosted at three of the destination’s scenic beachfront venues – Breakas Beach Resort, The Havannah, and Tamanu on the Beach Resort & Spa – a reminder that dining in Vanuatu is as much about the setting as it is about the food. A breakfast was hosted at The Grand Hotel & Casino, where the group had a selection of a la carte options.  A dinner at Stonegrill Restaurant saw agents cooking steaks and seafood on heated stones at the table. A Melanesian night was hosted at Holiday Inn Resort where the group sampled Vanuatu kava, ate local cuisine, and viewed a cultural show.
