The formation and development of the Rental Vehicle Association Samoa over the last two years gives agents added confidence in booking cars for their clients in the destination, says Annette Chang, general manager of Moana Rentals.

The company, which exhibited at the Samoa Tourism Expo recently, has been around for nearly 10 years and grown from supplying 10 vehicles then to 100 plus now.
Chang is encouraging travel advisors to book rental cars before their clients arrive in Samoa - benefitting the agent, the rental company and the client.‘We have two locations at the airport now, so people can pick up their car as soon as they arrive, or they can pick one up at our central Apia location.’

She says the forming a local association for the sector means operators can more effectively address areas such as training, customer service levels, booking systems, vehicle reliability and insurance. They can also share resources where necessary and help each other out if there is a breakdown.
‘It brings more professionalism into the industry,’ she adds.
