From 1 July 2026, Solomon Airlines will launch a new direct Christchurch-Port Vila service, operating twice weekly on Thursdays and Sundays, with a flight time of four hours.
In addition, Solomon Airlines will introduce a fourth weekly service from Auckland to Port Vila from the same date. This expansion will see four flights per week from Auckland and two flights per week from Christchurch, delivering increased capacity and greater flexibility for New Zealand travellers.
Vanuatu Tourism Office CEO, Adela Issachar Aru, says the expanded schedule is a major boost for the destination and the New Zealand travel trade.
‘This expanded connectivity opens Vanuatu to a wider audience – from South Island holidaymakers to families, couples and adventure seekers – all looking for an authentic Pacific experience just hours from home.’
The enhanced air access also presents strong commercial opportunities for the New Zealand trade.
‘With six direct services a week from New Zealand, agents can confidently promote Vanuatu as an easy-to-sell destination with excellent flight options, a strong accommodation portfolio and experiences that cater to a broad range of traveller types,’ Aru adds.
Vanuatu Tourism Office will deliver a comprehensive famil programme throughout 2026, providing New Zealand travel agents with first-hand destination experience.
