The New Zealand travel trade should watch out for the launch of a self-famil programme in Vanuatu next year.

Jacquie Carson, New Zealand market representative with Vanuatu Tourism Office, says the programme will coincide with the release of the new, revamped Vanuatu Specialists Programme.

Carson attended the Business Events Expo at Viaduct Events Centre, Auckland on Tuesday along with Julie Rice from airline partner Solomon Airlines.

She says the developments coincide nicely with a resurgence of international visitation to Vanuatu and continued reopening of inventory, following the earthquake last year.

‘The Havannah reopened on 21 November and the Grand Hotel and Casino is getting close. We really started seeing confidence come back in the market from July-August this year and that is continuing.

‘We’ll also have about 125 cruise ship visits through to March this season, so we’re back to being a strong cruising port.’
