Creative Kiwis in box seat for incentives from Aussie

Corporate incentive travel out of Australia will provide a huge opportunity for the New Zealand tourism industry when a safe bubble opens, according to a practitioner
in the sector.

Jessica Ireland, of Melbourne based The Incentive Lab, has been in New Zealand since March and is returning to Australia in the New Year. She was at the business events expo BE

Reconnected this week and says many Aussie companies will be keen to reward their high achievers with a trip outside of Australia.

However, she also warns that the industry here needs to be creative and move beyond standard tourism offerings.

‘Marlborough, for example has an incredible range. Australians want bespoke food and beverage experiences as well as flexibility for their incentive programmes and the region can offer that.’

Ireland also has good raps for Wellington – its food, culture, nightlife, museums and venues.

‘Most of our clients have not been drastically effected (by the Covid crisis) and still have healthy budgets for incentive travel.’
