Queenstown heli-camping

The popularity of day visits to Earnslaw Burn out of Queenstown is giving Heliworks confidence that the company’s new camping experience in the area will resonate with the domestic market.

Tess Kelly, who handles sales and marketing with Heliworks, was promoting the high end camping product to inbound tour operators at the TEC trade show and conference last week, but says there will certainly be potential for New Zealand agents and their clients.

‘We are aiming this particularly at the US and Australian markets and we are already getting enquiries about it.

‘But our landings and heli-hiking in Earnslaw Burn were hugely popular during the pandemic so we definitely see potential domestically. For a lot of people who were travelling at that time, a helicopter experience was not outside their budget.’

She says Heliworks has a new hangar on the Five Mile side of Queenstown Airport, complete with a private customer lounge.

The company is also looking to introduce new product working with the Wanaka Lavender Farm, with details to come. www.heliworks.co.nz
