TIME scholarships open for 2024

Scholarships are open for those working in the New Zealand travel industry who want to start 2024 by accelerating their career through the Travel Industry Mentor Experience (TIME) mentoring programme.

TIME offers a number of scholarships each year with the support of its partners. These aim to foster and retain talented staff in the sector who may not otherwise be able to cover the cost of the mentoring programme.

Four scholarships supported by Expedia TAAP, NCL, Mint Payments and Silversea are available for two different mentee intakes in the first half of 2024. Further scholarships will be available later for TIME programmes to run in the second half of the year.

TIME NZ programme manager,  Margaret Spiro says the mentoring programme has proven to be helpful to previous participants and offering scholarships ensures the benefits are available to everyone in the industry.

Scholarships available from TIME partners in the first half of 2024 include: Expedia TAAP – intake 12 on 13 March 2024; NCL – intake 12 on 13 March; Mint Payments – intake 13 on 12 June; Silversea – intake 13 on 12 June.

TIME website boosts mentoring opportunities

Access to professional mentoring for travel industry staff has become easier with the launch of an upgraded website for Travel Industry Mentor Experience (TIME).

TIME is a not-for-profit company that helps aspiring leaders of the travel, tourism, cruise, hospitality and aviation sectors accelerate their careers.

It operates through a structured mentoring and peer collaboration framework to deliver agreed outcomes for each participant.

TIME NZ programme manager, Margaret Spiro says the updated website makes accessing mentoring more straightforward for those seeking mentors, as well as those wanting to become mentors.

‘The sector is entering a period of growth, which is exciting, but a high proportion of our people have taken on different roles, have had to learn new skills, or are completely new to the industry.

‘It is important everybody is supported through those changes, and mentoring from senior, experienced members of the travel industry is an effective way of doing that,’ Spiro says.

TIME NZ currently has a roster of about 30 industry mentors, listed on the updated website with a snapshot of their experience and core skills. Applications to become a mentee, mentor, or to partner with TIME, can be started through the website.

‘As well as application information, the website has a library of workshops, videos and other educational resources that we will be regularly updating,’ Spiro adds.

The site also includes an events calendar and testimonials from TIME graduates.
