Club Med’s mountain boom

Club Med has reported record-breaking activity and business volume for its mountain resorts this northern winter season.

During the first half of 2023, Club Med witnessed a 45% year-on-year increase in its mountain business volume globally, with a 30% growth in customers compared to the previous year. The positive trend is attributed to Club Med’s recent strategic investments, including upgrading its resorts, the opening of new resorts in Hokkaido, Japan and the French Alps, and its focus on internationalising its customer base.

The overall snow holiday bookings for the current winter season reveals a 98% growth across East and South Asia and Pacific markets. This growth is attributed to new capacity through the opening of Club Med Kiroro Peak, Club Med Kiroro Grand, Club Med Changbaishan, and Club Med Tignes. The business volume of APAC markets has surged by 107% compared to the winter of 2019, and by 22% when compared to the winter of 2019 excluding the newly added capacity.

Opened late last year, Club Med’s fourth resort in Hokkaido, Club Med Kiroro Grand, achieved near full occupancy 12 weeks ahead of its opening, while the other three Hokkaido resorts continue to show similar levels.

The recent 2023 Asia Snow Report by Club Med reveals a shift in the preferences of contemporary travellers seeking a comprehensive, multi-faceted holiday experience. This includes not only comfortable accommodation and easy access to the slopes but also expert instruction to winter sports coupled with the availability of ski equipment rental, cuisine, family-friendly activities, and festive après-ski entertainment.

Japan emerged as the most popular snow holiday destination according to the report.
