‘Solidify and Tagify’: Group sets out NZ approach

TAG Group’s priority in the New Zealand market now is to bed down and ‘Tagify’ its existing operations here, says managing director APAC Shane Barr.

The company officially launched its New Zealand operation here earlier in the month and has announced its first two acquisitions – Sound Travels and Red Hot Travel and Events. It also has an office in Commercial Bay, central Auckland.

‘It is likely to be six months or more before we expand any further (in terms of acquisitions). We’ll do it as fast as we need to do it,’ says Barr. ‘We want to be part of the New Zealand travel industry, just as we are here in Australia. We’re not about disrupting.’

That said, Barr is sure TAG can bring a new level of service to the industry here within the sectors it specialises in.

‘We’re bringing a fresh take on things and competition can only improve service levels. We think the timing is right, there’s an appetite for change.’

TAG Group operates in 19 locations worldwide as a service-driven company with a strong reputation in music touring, production, corporate and investment management travel, as well as events and private travel.

‘Our model is based on being able to service clients in the same time zone and having them be sure they are dealing with someone who knows what they are talking about.’
