‘We are continuing to see our people that were displaced during Covid (ex Flighties) filling our available roles. However, we’re still on the lookout for more experienced travel consultants to help with the quick travel rebound.
Walker adds that during March and April, FCNZ has welcomed a number of new people, with the majority being returning Flighties.
‘Those who are returning are coming back because they are passionate about travel and are hearing about the buzz of travel returning and the earning potential that goes with it.’
Walker says that in terms of rebuilding the industry, Flight Centre is investing in training new people. ‘Also, when international travellers return it will be integral that we have the ability for people to secure visas. This will not be a quick fix, both solutions will require time and resource.
‘With unemployment rates so low, we will need to continue to compete for great recruits amongst all of Aotearoa and rebuild confidence in our industry.’
