Speaking at the WiT (Web in Travel) Queenstown conference this morning, Scurrah took part in an interview session with Roger Sharp, chair of Technology Queenstown.
Sharp noted how flying through Nadi, with a stopover in Fiji before heading direct to Queenstown would be extremely attractive for long haul markets, particularly out of North America. 'It would be much better than hubbing through Australia or even Auckland.'
'We are working on it, I can't promise anything but we want to make it happen,' Scurrah responded.
He notes that FJ is already an important provider of inbound tourism to this part of the world. 'We have three ports in Australia and three in New Zealand so we are a big feeder into these markets.'
WiT Queenstown has the theme The Next 20:Innovation at the World's Edge. The event, at Queenstown Memorial Centre, started yesterday and concludes this evening.
