An annual expo that targets incentive travel and conferences is already seeing interest from a wider spectrum of the travel industry as it heads towards its fourth iteration in November this year.

The Business Events Expo is being held on Tuesday 24 November at the Viaduct Events Centre in Auckland and Paul Hailes, director of organising company Tourism Media Group, says early registrations show that travel management companies (TMCs) and organisers of premium group travel are among those keen to attend.

‘We’ve always had good attendance from these markets, along with wedding planners and special interest tour organisers, but it is evident that trends in global travel towards groups looking for something that they can’t find ‘off the shelf’ fit nicely with the many of the experiences on show from BEE exhibitors.

‘Travel agents looking for something special to present to multi-generational family get-togethers for example will definitely find interesting options at BEE. Many groups, corporate or otherwise, are preferring to stay reasonably close to home – be it somewhere special in New Zealand or a destination such as Australia, Pacific and Asia, all of which are well represented at BEE.’

On the domestic front, first time BEE exhibitor Terra & Tide offers pre-designed, customisable and bespoke tour experiences which are designed to showcase the best of the Auckland and Northland regions.

Agents looking for something pre-packaged for ease, or an experience tailored specifically for a corporate or leisure group, can access complete itineraries and events based on their requirements. Options include touring, walking and sailing adventures, suited for groups of all sizes from two to 100 guests. Locations encompass Auckland City, Waiheke Island, Hauraki Gulf, Matakana Coast, Tutukaka Coast, Hokianga, and the Bay of Islands; which can be mixed and matched to create a tailored itinerary.

Across the Tasman, Topgolf Gold Coast is another first time exhibitor and provides event spaces, high-tech, climate-controlled hitting bays for year-round activity, a chef-inspired menu, and hundreds of associates eager to help create a programme.

For larger groups, Western Sydney Convention Centre (WSCC) will be emphasising its location 20 minutes from the new Western Sydney International Airport, providing New Zealand delegates with a convenient gateway into Australia’s fastest-growing economic region. Integrated with the Pullman Sydney Penrith, WSSC offers easy access to the Sydney CBD, the Blue Mountains and many of Western Sydney’s leading leisure and adventure attractions.
