Viking – here to help Viking – here to help

Being slammed? We can help, says Viking

Viking’s commercial manager New Zealand, Steve Parker says his main objective is to continue to help (where he can) agents struggling to cope with the amount of business and reduced resources.

‘I have been in the retail environment and I know how busy they are. If I can help by talking to their clients directly, even in the evening at a convenient time, I am happy to call them and help get them across the line for the agent.’

Parker, who has been working with and supporting the trade throughout the two years of the pandemic says he is still running activity to that end in the market.

“The trade is our total focus and we are still running the Valhalla Club where the top five selling agents will earn a late-season cruise in the Mediterranean, from Rome to Barcelona. So that’s something for agents to work towards and look forward to, plus it is based on the number of pax booked and not just revenue.”

Parker says he has seen some big bookings come through for 2023 – 24 and had a good response to Viking’s cruise only river 2022 campaign.

‘We’ve still got the same message we’ve had for a while – if anyone wants to cruise next year they need to book now. The world is travelling and there is pent up demand so space is filling fast.”

Parker is also continuing to promote the two ocean cruises heading to New Zealand over summer. Viking Mars is cruising Barcelona to Auckland with six itineraries back to back, and Viking Orion from Vancouver to Auckland with five itineraries.
