Space on PONANT's Feb NZ cruise

PONANT’s return to cruising in New Zealand is being launched with an expedition departing 8 February. Developed exclusively for Kiwis, it explores the Subantarctic Islands, Chatham Islands, and Ulva Island (Stewart Island).

Mick Fogg, PONANT’s expedition manager for Asia Pacific says, the number of visitors permitted each year to visit the Subantarctic islands is strictly controlled in order to maintain their environments.

‘So here is clients’ chance to discover these islands. They are a refuge for numerous species of flora and fauna, many found nowhere else on Earth, their isolation resulting in several species evolving independently, making them a fascinating study for scientists.’

Departing Auckland on 8 February 2021, and concluding in Lyttelton, the 14-night Subantarctic itinerary will suit families, keen wildlife and landscape photographers, bird watchers, history buffs or groups of friends.

Following this expedition there will be two further close-to home expedition itineraries that include Fiordland, the Snares and Southland.

Space across all three expedition itineraries currently remains available however options are reducing as cabins are sold, a reflection of the pent-up eagerness to once again be able to cruise.
