Great Walks now number 13

Great Walks of Australia has added a new experience to its collection of multi-day guided hikes – Flinders Island Walking Adventure In Comfort on Flinders Island in Tasmania, operated by Tasmanian Expeditions.

The 13th Great Walk of Australia offers hikers a mix of terrains, abundant wildlife and cultural history. The six-day, five-night, day-pack only guided hike on Flinders Island covers 42 kilometres of easy to moderate walking and is accessed via a scenic flight from Bridport, near Launceston.

Its is the first time a new multi-day guided hike has been added to the collection since 2017.

The itinerary includes coastal views, swimming spots and granite peaks to summit, including Mt Strzelecki which provides 360-degree views.

Great Walks of Australia executive officer, Liz O’Rourke says the walk is ideal for clients wanting to get off the beaten track to a wild landscape with blockbuster views and feel like they have it nearly all to themselves.

At the end of each day of walking, guests retire to the comfort of Tasmanian Expeditions’ coastal Eco-Comfort Camp.
