John Sharp, deputy chairman of Regional Express (REX), says the airline is seeing growth of domestic travel within large states like Western Australia and Queensland.

‘People feel trapped. There is a genuine attempt for people to discover their own state in places like that and last week we doubled flights in Western Australia to meet the demand. I’d like to see the (state) borders reopened. It will lead to more traffic and more people working.’
