Cottages in the forest

Having complete privacy is a major selling point for Misty View Cottages, a boutique property in the Sunshine Coast hinterland.

Michelle (Shell) Rodney, who was promoting the property at the recent Australian Tourism Exchange, points out that with only five bespoke cottages in a rainforest setting it is easy to have a feeling of seclusion.

‘If clients are in any one cottage they can’t see another one,’ she says.

Most cottages have a double spa bath and they all have balconies, log fireplaces, well equipped kitchens and Nespresso coffee machines.

Rodney says that while clients can completely relax and just enjoy the natural surrounds there is also plenty to see and do around the Montville location.

‘We have a two-night minimum stay but we recommend three or four nights to give time to explore the various artisans, including glass blowers, painters, potters and textile artists in the area. We prepare meal hampers on request (extra coast) but we also have a variety of restaurnats just three kilometres away.’

Rodney attended the Queensland is Calling roadshow in New Zealand earlier this year and says the feedback was ‘fantastic’.

‘With direct services from Auckland there is no reason why Kiwis can’t come and do both the hinterland and the coast – it shouldn’t be a hard sell for the New Zealand trade.’
