Sampling ‘reimagined GC’ via direct JQ flights

Twenty New Zealand travel consultants were recently hosted by Experience Gold Coast for a famil aligning with the introduction of Jetstar’s non-stop services from Hamilton and Dunedin to the Gold Coast.

The launch of these routes represents a significant enhancement in trans-Tasman access, particularly for travellers in regional New Zealand. By hosting this famil, Experience Gold Coast aimed to empower frontline sellers with in-depth destination knowledge and authentic experiences to better inform their clients.

The agents – drawn from top-performing retail networks – explored how the Gold Coast continues to appeal across diverse travel segments, from families and couples to nature enthusiasts and culinary explorers.

The famil groups flew on Jetstar’s direct flights, experiencing the journey now available to Waikato and Otago-based travellers. Each group followed an itinerary designed to showcase the Gold Coast’s blend of familiar attractions and new offerings. These included Avani Broadbeach and Dorsett Gold Coast, food hubs like Miami Marketta, an island breakfast with Jetski Safari and developments including the new Mondrian Gold Coast hotel. They sampled the region’s evolving food scene with meals at venues like KOST, Tarte Beach House, and The Star’s Kiyomi. Visits to Tropical Fruit World and Tamborine Mountain, facilitated by Southern Cross Tours, offered a glimpse into the hinterland.

Beyond showcasing product, the famil was designed as an investment in the New Zealand travel trade. It included a networking breakfast at SkyPoint where agents connected with local tourism operators.

James Stafford, Jetstar’s NZ sales manager says the Gold Coast continues to be a top destination for Aotearoa.

‘Jetstar’s new direct routes are providing a much-needed service to connect more of NZ to Australia, affordably.’
