Maldives offers opportunities

Travel agents should feel confident recommending the Maldives as a destination to a wide variety of clients, whether they are looking for an adults-only resort, high end luxury, four-star budget, family friendly, wellness or even a special stopover, says Amaan Khan, managing director of Total Holiday Options.

‘Most resorts have all-inclusive options, which we recommend, but clients can also find full or half board offers.’

He adds that THO has a lead in price at a four-star resort of $2200 per person for five nights all inclusive with meals, drinks, speed boat transfers, water sports and more.

Khan’s comments come following Total Holiday Options’ recent award from Trave Trade Maldives (TTM) supported by Ministry of Tourism Govt of Maldives. The company won the award as top producer  from Australasia.

‘We have 80-plus preferred resorts in the Maldives and they are all directly contracted with THO, so that makes the Maldives extremely accessible for the trade and their clients.’

Khan says the clear waters, snorkelling, diving (and marine life in general), plus the veritable feast on offer when it comes to cuisine puts the destination on a level of its own.

‘People can easily reach the Maldives via Singapore or Kuala Lumpur and we are seeing a growing interest from people using the Maldives as a stopover on the way to UK/Europe.’

He says that an extra bonus when travelling to resorts a bit further away from Malé is a seaplane trip.

‘We’ve definitely seen growth interest from New Zealand in the past five or six months. A lot of people have always wanted to go there and the variety we offer for various budgets has made the destination more accessible.’
