Pandaw Cruises has launched new three and four-night Hooghly Ganges River cruises, providing travellers with a flexible way to experience one of India’s most fascinating and culturally rich regions, says Wild Earth Travel, the exclusive general sales agent (GSA) for Pandaw in New Zealand.

Operating between Kolkata and Murshidabad, the new itineraries have been designed to complement wider journeys throughout India. Suitable for clients visiting destinations such as Darjeeling, Assam, Rajasthan or Kerala, the short cruises offer an immersive river experience without requiring a longer commitment.

The Hooghly Ganges has played a significant role in India’s history for centuries, serving as a vital trade route through Bengal. Travellers can discover a quieter side of India as they cruise past riverside villages, historic trading towns and magnificent colonial architecture while experiencing Pandaw’s small-ship hospitality.

Highlights include the terracotta temples of Kalna, visits to the brass-working village of Matiari, and exploring the palaces, mosques and gardens of Murshidabad, once the capital of Bengal. Fares start from A$2,275 per person.

‘These new itineraries are ideal for travellers wanting to experience India’s rivers while still exploring the country’s incredible diversity,’ says Nyssa Erskine, Wild Earth Travel.

The new cruises join Pandaw’s collection of boutique river expeditions throughout India, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos.
