Art and science collide at event

A multi-venue event from September 2024 to February 2025 will highlight LA and wider Southern California’s position as a major arts destination.

Joan Weinstein, director at the Getty Foundation says the six month long PST Art – Art & Science Collide will involve more than 800 artists and spread over 60 plus cultural institutions. Presented by Getty it will involve works and visions such as an environmentally sustainable city for seven billion people,  winds on Mars, a structure formed by live bees, and pigeons with backpacks monitoring air pollution.

Described by Weinstein as a ‘festival of festivals’ PST Art will spread across LA, San Diego, Santa Monica, Palm Springs and many other Southern California Centres.

Speaking at an IPW brunch staged (appropriately) at The Getty Museum, Adam Burke, president and CEO of LA Tourism pointed out that Los Angeles has more museums and performing arts venues per-capita than any other city in the US.

To highlight the importance of the sector, LA Tourism has themed its stand at the US travel trade show IPW in the LA Convention Centre as an art installation.
