US to ‘reboot’ with trade

A record turnout of presenters for Visit USA NZ’s ‘Independence Day Virtual Roadshow 2021’ illustrates yet again the vital role the trade will play in the reboot of travel between New Zealand and the United States.

With more than 20 organisations participating including airlines, destinations, hotels, tour operators, and others, the Independence Day webinar event will be streamed live from the Hawaiian Airlines Auckland office on Tuesday 6 July, at 9.30am. The atmosphere will be enhanced by an on-site audience including invited Auckland-based travel trade.

‘The huge response from USA suppliers shows how important New Zealand is to the reboot of international travel,’ says Visit USA NZ chair Chris Ingram.

‘While comparatively small in numbers, the Kiwi market traditionally punches above its weight when it comes to important factors including length of stay and dispersal,’ says Ingram.

‘With promising signs around vaccinations and the careful restart of safe travel, the time is definitely right for the trade here to reconnect with the wider US travel community.

‘We are heartened by reports out of Australia that vaccinated Aussies may be permitted to travel overseas with relaxed quarantine requirements as soon as six to eight weeks. We look forward to hearing about our government’s plans regarding travelling to countries with trusted vaccination verification programmes like the US when the
time is right.’

Webinar attendees will have an opportunity to be part of the celebrations by creating and sharing their own USA style pancakes to be in to win an Antler suitcase from Hawaiian Airlines. Food writer Annabelle White will be on hand at the event to judge the best stack of pancakes.
