This comes as the tourism office prepares to visit New Zealand this week to give insights about the tournament and provide updates to the trade on the destination generally.
Monica Leeck, manager market development Asia with Destination BC, says she will be meeting with Air Canada, TVNZ, Football NZ, media and travel product managers and wholesalers while she is here. She says while the message will be around football the objective will be to capitalise on the awareness it creates to drive visitation well into the future – similar to what was achieved when Whistler hosted the Winter Olympics in 2010.
‘It’s about looking beyond the pitch and experiencing Super Natural British Columbia,’ she adds.
The full range of Iconics was on show at International Media Marketplace (IMM) in Sydney last week – after the release of the first itinerary, Rainforest and Rockies at the same event in 2025.
That has been joined by Nature’s Heartland, The Great Wilderness, Birthplace of Adventure, Valleys and Vineyards, and The Infinite Coast.
The itineraries can easily be adapted and combined with eachother to suit the audience, Leeck says.
‘In the New Zealand market we think the programmes that will resonate the most are likely to be Rainforest to Rockies, Valleys and Vineyards and Infinite Coast. Of course, Vancouver and ski are always top of mind as well.’
