The new seasonal route will operate until May 2026.
The flights take off as Qantas also prepares to launch its new Auckland to Perth services in December, and unlocking a one-stop pathway to London via Perth on the airline’s direct daily flights as well as to Paris and Rome.
Collectively these new routes will add over 110,000 seats between Australia and New Zealand each year and increase Qantas capacity from Auckland by almost 10%.
Qantas has also announced over 75 additional flights in April 2026 from Christchurch, Wellington and Queenstown to Sydney and Melbourne, in response to growing demand. This boosts New Zealand capacity by 18% compared to April 2025.
Qantas CEO international, Cam Wallace the airline is seeing strong demand for travel across the Tasman. ‘This new international service, along with our direct Auckland to Perth flights launching in December, will make it even easier for Kiwis to explore South Australia and travel to destinations like Europe in a single hop.
‘These extra flights are also great for the New Zealand tourism industry, providing more choice and access to customers from around our network looking to discover Aotearoa,’ he adds.
