The seasonal service now operates twice weekly on Mondays and Fridays through to 27 March 2026, with around 15,000 seats available across the season.
The service is operated by a narrowbody Airbus jet.
Air New Zealand GM short haul, Lucy Hall, says this new service is about more than just connecting two cities – it’s about strengthening tourism and connections between South Australia and the South Island.
Six South Australian-based travel agents were among the passengers on the first Air New Zealand flight between the two cities.
Mayor of Christchurch Phil Mauger notes that Adelaide and Christchurch are sister cities with shared values and strong ties.
‘With 50 years of formal connection behind us, this new service is awesome, it opens the door to even more exchange, tourism, and opportunity.’
