Africa Showcase will also have New Zealand and Australian-based wholesalers with expertise in the continent on hand – a list that will include Adventure World, World Journeys, Viva Expeditions, Innovative Travel and Bench Africa among others.
The event is run by On Show Solutions in South Africa and is taken around the globe. In this part of the world Luxury Travel marketing (LTM) is the facilitator of the showcase, responsible for generating trade interest and attendance.
LTM co-director Lauren McAlpine says travel to the African continent from Australasia remains strong, despite recent global events.
‘With much of Africa’s tourism offering located in or easily accessible via the southern hemisphere, the destination remains well positioned for travellers from New Zealand. Air connectivity continues to be strong and suppliers are seeing healthy demand.’
McAlpine says luxury travellers are increasingly spending longer in destinations and combining multiple regions into complex itineraries.
‘This highlights the value of working with travel advisors and specialist operators. The Africa Showcase provides and excellent opportunity for the travel trade to learn from and network with a diverse range of African suppliers, including representatives from emerging destinations such as Namibia, Zambia and Madagascar.’
Southern Sun, Taj Hotels, The Bayette Collection, Dream Hotels and Resorts, and Rainbow Tourism Group are among the accommodation providers attending. Agents will also be able to connect with the likes of Rovos Rail, Ntaba African Safaris, Nomad Africa Tours and Safaris, KwaZulu Natal Tourism and Film Authority, and African Scenic Safaris.
The Auckland event will be held at Hilton Auckland from 5.30pm to 9pm and registrations are open now. South African Airways and South African Tourism will also be exhibiting.
