Being slammed? We can help, says Viking
Viking’s commercial manager New Zealand, Steve Parker says his main objective is to continue to help (where he can) agents struggling to cope with the amount of business and reduced resources.
‘I have been in the retail environment and I know how busy they are. If I can help by talking to their clients directly, even in the evening at a convenient time, I am happy to call them and help get them across the line for the agent.’
Viking Mars 2022 on sale
Viking’s commercial manager New Zealand, Steve Parker, says the company’s newest ocean ship – the 930-guest Viking Mars will be heading this way from Europe in October 2022.
‘We have released a selection of cruises which if combined will give clients an opportunity to cruise all the way from Barcelona to Auckland. Agents can book one cruise or all six cruises to make a 92-day voyage of a lifetime,’ he says.
‘Several New Zealand agents have made bookings already and it is recommended to book early so you can secure the same cabin on each sailing. One agent booked three couples who wanted to travel together so there are definitely opportunities out there.’
Packed house for Viking VOR
Viking’s VOR event at Auckland’s Tamaki Yacht Club on Wednesday night was action packed with 120 agents enjoying education along with a quiz and some prizes.
Managing director ANZ of Viking, Michelle Black and national sales manager, Keira Smith were able to cross the ditch for the event along with MC Andrew Gill.
‘Thank goodness for bubbles,’ said Black, who told the agents that although cruising may have stopped in 2020, Viking had been busy. The company launched Viking TV so that clients could cruise virtually from home, and continued to actively market to both the consumer and trade. It’s taken a scientific approach to health and safety protocols, including installing full PCR labs on ocean ships and implementing daily saliva PCR tests onboard all of its ships.
The main focus of the training evening was on polar expedition cruising (with a wrap up of river and ocean product) with regional sales manager NZ, Steve Parker also encouraging agents ‘to use us for your benefit,’ including hosting client events.
