The Walshe Group has appointed aviation industry veteran Russell Williss as sales and marketing manager for Air Niugini in New Zealand, ahead of the airline’s return to the Auckland-Port Moresby route.

New Zealand’s travel retailers are welcoming another link to the all-important USA gateway of LAX, with spokespeople saying there is definitely a need for more capacity on the route.

At the same time, Delta Air Lines has the trade in its sights following the announcement that the carrier will launch daily flights between Auckland and Los Angeles from 30 October on Airbus A350-900 aircraft.

The Walshe Group has been appointed general sales agent to represent Lufthansa Group airlines in New Zealand effective 1 March 2021. The Walshe Group managing director, Jacqui Walshe, will be responsible for the growth of Lufthansa Group airlines in New Zealand.
