It will be the first Double Tree in New Caledonia. The refurb will include the 25 overwater bungalows, 40 island bungalows (beach and garden categories), bar, restaurant, and wine cellar. Julie Cassin, sales manager Australia and New Zealand with GLP Hotels, says the market in general is enthusiastic about the upgrade and is especially welcoming the new look over water category.
‘They are still the only over water bungalows in New Caledonia and are an important part of the destination’s mix,’ says Cassin. GLP and sister company Promenade Tours exhibited at Luxperience in Sydney this week and Cassin says the refurbishment is particularly important for the higher end of the market. ‘We’ll be proposing bed and breakfast and half board rates as well. The island itself provides an amazing experience because it is in a 200 hectare marine reserve and there is an abundance of fish, turtles and bird life.
