New images of changes at Tontouta Airport in New Caledonia

Progress continues on the Noumea’s upgrade of Tontouta airport following last April's opening of the new arrival’s hall. By August this year, passengers will proceed straight to and from the aircraft via a new airbridge without having to cross the tarmac.

Melanesian inspired architecture enhanced by interior gardens with a focus on New Caledonia’s exotic flora, already welcomes arriving travellers.

New features to date have included include significantly improved passenger departure facilities, a new souvenir boutique and new amenities. The departure area offers panoramic views toward the mountains offering a visual ‘adieu’ to the Caledonian landscape prior to boarding.

More car parks and a covered walkway leading in to the terminal have been added.

The final stage will see the much needed upgrade of the departure/arrival lounges including immigration, restaurant and duty free area/shopping area. There will also be a creation of further green spaces.
