Suppliers form association

The New Zealand suppliers group has ‘moved up a notch’ by voting to become a formal association and new chair Joe O’Sullivan says the entity will continue to put pressure on government over key issues.

O’Sullivan, of Cruise World, says the New Zealand Outbound Travel Suppliers Association (OTSA) is still (along with the Travel Agents Association of New Zealand – TAANZ) putting pressure on authorities to release the remaining funds in the Consumer Travel Reimbursement Scheme to where it needs to be.

‘The pushback on that is strong and we, along with TAANZ, are continuing to find ways around that.’

O’Sullivan and past chair Robyn Galloway, of Innovative Travel, says the association is also working to put pressure in the government to provide a roadmap once everyone in the country who wants to be is vaccinated. ‘There is no commitment to a plan, we really need a pathway.’

O’Sullivan says it is clear that getting as many people vaccinated as possible is crucial at this stage.
