GTN event record numbers

Global Travel Network’s (GTN’s) conference in just over a fortnight will be its biggest yet and is set to attract what the group believes will be a record gathering of NZ independent agents in one place.

Being held in Taupo on 30 and 31 August, the conference will have more than 100 agents and 23 suppliers. The event has a theme of Sustainable Success and director Rob Beecher says it comes at a time when GTN has experienced double digit revenue growth year on year. ‘Early forecasts for 2020 are looking strong too,’ he says. Beecher concedes that macro economics and world events could always effect the year ahead but says the group is up for any challenges that may be thrown at it. ‘In 2015 it was said in some circles that we wouldn’t survive, we’ve proven that to be wrong.’ He says GTN had founding and ongoing principals of transparency, honesty and integrity. The conference and its theme will now work on building sustainability for the long term. ‘A strength we have is the spread of our agents. We have heavy VFR traffic to places like Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, India, Nepal and Pakistan as well as to Southeast Asia, Indochina, China, Hong Kong, Japan and Taiwan. Then we have Pacific and other international business plus the Kiwi agents doing mainstream. ‘That spread acts as insurance. We have different peak seasons and selling periods and a wide airline mix.’
