Viking's new 2013 itineraries & earlybird booking

Viking River Cruises has announced eight new 2013 itineraries tailored to suit the experienced Australian and New Zealand traveller. Itineraries on Viking's new longships include new destinations such a Monte Carlo, Lucerne and Zurich. The European favourites of Paris, Prague and Budapest have been given more prominence through longer city stays incorporated into the tour. Thirteen itineraries in 2013 range from 8 to 29 days in length.

Viking's journeys in Russia cruise along the Volga, Neva and Svir between Moscow and St. Petersburg. In China, Viking's vessel has all-balcony staterooms and fully equipped Western-style kitchens and takes in China’s highlights, including Beijing, Shanghai and the Terra Cotta Army in Xian, plus a Yangtze River cruise.

Itineraries for the 2013 season include:

  • 8-day Rhine River cruises through four countries - Holland, Germany, France and Switzerland, bookended by hotel nights in Lucerne and Zurich to allow more time for exploration in these cities.
  • 11-day Rhine Discovery, from $3,995* per person
  • 14-day Treasures of Southern France, from $5,395* per person, explores southern France, sampling local wine and produce until the French Riviera, with hotel nights in Paris and Nice.
  • 13-day Danube Explorer, from $4,095* per person offers a river cruise from Budapest to Nuremberg, bookended by hotel nights in Prague and Budapest, allowing for more time to explore the cobblestone streets of Bohemia.
  • two 18-day itineraries: Treasures of Europe, from $6,295* per person, offers river cruise from Amsterdam to Budapest with 3 nights in Paris; or Imperial Cities of Europe, from $5,795* per person, which offers a river cruises from Amsterdam to Budapest with 3 nights in Prague.
  • the 21-day European Odyssey, from $7,595* per person, includes a 14 night river cruise from Amsterdam to Budapest, bookended by hotel nights in both Paris and Prague.
  • the 23-day European Sojourn, from $8,245* per person, visits seven countries from Western Europe- Eastern Europe: Holland, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Serbia, Bulgaria and Romania.
  • the 29-day Ultimate European Adventure, from $11,195* per person are for those who seek a deeper immersion into history and culture, with hotel stays in Paris, Bucharest and Brasov alongside the 21 night river cruise from Amsterdam to Bucharest.
