Cruise lobbying continues

The New Zealand Cruise Association (NZCA) is continuing to lobby against the government’s decision to indefinitely continue the cruise ship ban, despite flight travel and crowded public events already being back on the table.

The association has posted a video message on its Facebook page from Mark Gilbert, CEO of Hassle Free Tours, who used to operate from both Christchurch and Auckland. He explains how the company’s staff and contractors have been affected and why he believes domestic cruising is a crucial first step, followed by the trans Tasman bubble (when it is safe to do so) and why a transparent plan from government is essential for the survival of the many affected local New Zealand businesses and regional economies.
