NZ-based Aussie Specialist trainer on horizon, delegation heading here

Tourism Australia is set to appoint an Aussie Specialist Programme (ASP) trainer in the New Zealand market. The recruitment process is underway now. For all non-ASP related business the contact will be TA’s Sydney-based general manager domestic and New Zealand Andrew Hutchinson and his team.

Phillipa Harrison, TA’s managing director, says the move reflects the importance of personal meetings now that the trans Tasman bubble has opened.

‘We want to make sure there is the opportunity to be doing some face to face training.’

Harrison says events like the Australian Tourism Exchange (ATE) show the importance of getting together – about 20 New Zealand delegates joined some 700 attendees at the exchange.

The importance of touching base personally is also a driving force behind a TA delegation that will visit New Zealand later this month.

‘We’ll be meeting with the (NZ-based) State Tourism Organisations on a one to one basis, as well as consumer and trade media and airlines. It’s a fact finding exercise to some extent, but we will also be hosting a trade function at QT Auckland.’

A function for travel trade and also meetings professionals will be held on 21 June.
