'With Western Australia's regional boundaries now removed, there has been a flood of tourists in the state's regional centres as pent up demand sees popular tours booked out for weeks,' says Sightseeing Pass Australia director Lisa D'Souza. ‘To further drive demand, Tourism WA has launched a $14 million marketing package to stimulate domestic travel as tourism businesses reopen their doors to visitors.’ As part of this initiative, Sightseeing Pass Australia is joining forces with Tourism WA with an online platform offering hundreds of bundled travel experiences so that accommodation, tours and other local experiences can be packaged up in one booking.
D’Souza says the company’s website has become an ‘instant wholesale and marketing platform’ that will provide opportunities for New Zealand travel agents when the borders open. ‘We see real potential out of New Zealand when Western Australia offers a safe alternative to other destinations – both for a city stay in Perth and getting further afield into less discovered parts of the state.’ D’Souza says New Zealand agents and brokers should watch out for more updates in coming months.
