A Visit Victoria, Air New Zealand campaign designed to boost Kiwi traffic to Melbourne will give agents an extra hook to sell the destination in its traditionally slow mid winter period.

 

Visit Victoria’s regional manager New Zealand, Joanna Garrie, says any New Zealander who travels to Melbourne with Air New Zealand in June and takes their boarding pass to the Visitor Hub at Melbourne Town Hall will be able to collect a shopping tote bag containing exclusive offers to many of the city’s shopping destinations. ‘Shopping is a key motivator for travel to Melbourne and we are trialling this as a major reason to visit in June, which is usually a quieter month for us.’ The promotion offers a ‘shopping passport’ at Chadstone, reputed to be Australia’s largest shopping centre with more than 550 stores, discount booklet at DFO South Wharf, discounts at Emporium and a gourmet guided walking tour of Queen Victoria Market. Specials on accommodation and transport, plus discounts at various bars and restaurants are included in the promotion.Travellers can also get 25% off general admission (plus a complimentary beverage) on the Melbourne Star Observation Wheel. Pan Pacific Hotel is offering a Shop and Stay Package, giving savings at DFO (right next door), buffet breakfast and discount parking.
