Managing director NZ, Paul Dymond, says India, Japan, China (2) and Vietnam (2) will all have solo only tours in the mix. ‘This is the first time we have introduced solo only departures. About 20% of our clients on regular tours are solo travellers, because we have always done ‘willing to share’ and low single supplements and those will still be options,’ says Dymond.
He says the six new tours have all been designed specifically. ‘We haven’t just taken existing itineraries and made them solo.’ Meantime, he says agents should watch out for new Japan and India brochures by mid-October. ‘Japan will have three new tours added to the programme. The destination is up 320% for Wendy Wu across the globe and that is reflected in our (NZ) figures as well. It’s right up there with China sales and China is selling well.’
